In May I showed you this little blue pot

I’d been playing around with the shape and couldn’t decide what to do. Some of you were kind enough to respond with suggestions and Kate suggested putting beach glass in the holes. It’s taken me a while to find the time but here it is.

I decided to put the beach glass on the outside rather than in the holes and I like the finished piece. The brown beach glass looks good and I’m so pleased to have found a use for some of it as I seem incapable of not collecting it.

I was chuffed to find a thread that matched and it does look good on the gravel. Thanks Kate.

I promised to show you this throw when it was finished and here it is.

In it, I’ve used only treble stitch and relied on colour changes for pattern. Given that it has straight lines, I really like this one. It’s not quite big enough for a bed but the intention was always for it to go on the sofa ready to snuggle under at a moments notice. I seem to have got the bug so here’s my new WIP.

It may be blue but that’s just because I don’t have enough purples and loads of blue. The variegated blue was on offer and I just couldn’t resist. I think it would be a nice one to weave with as well.

My friend Kate was naughty recently when she kept her birthday secret but I decided to make her a belated birthday present anyway. Kate is a keen and talented gardener and after seeing photos of the garden on her blog I decided to use that for my inspiration.

I thought it was also an opportunity to try out a new design idea for a neck warmer or short scarf. I carded together yellow, blue and green fibres which I laid out over white silk chiffon. Between the silk chiffon and the fibres I trapped a number of flowers. The flowers are the recycling element which I know Kate will apprecate as they came from an old net curtain. I spent hours one weekend (to bewildered looks from Hubby) cutting out all the flowers before I threw the remainder away as it was damaged.

The scarf is floral on one side and coloured on the other. I was hoping Kate would be pleased with her pressie but I needn’t have worried for she seemed delighted when I handed it over.

I’m now left wondering whether to make more in this style. The floral theme with the recycling element appeals to me but I’m not sure if it would be everyones cup of tea. Thoughts?
